Adeline Carpenter Morris: "On Saturday at 11 o'clock at the family home in Morris occurred the death of Adeline Matteson Carpenter, wife of C. D. Carpenter, after a long illness, she having been under the care of a physician for more, than a year and confined to her home, being treated for anemia, which not yielding to treatment caused her death. Funeral services were held from her late home Tuesday at 2 o'clock. The service was conducted by Rev: E. E. Hutchinson, rector of Zion Episcopal church of that village. Mrs. Carpenter was born, married and spent her entire life in the old home of her parents, Otis and Lucretia Bates Matteson. Born May 19, 1866, she married C. D. Carpenter Oct. 14, 1891. In infancy she was baptized into membership in Zion church by the late Bishop Tuttle, then priest of the parish. She has remained throughout her entire life a faithful and consistent member, having been for years a member of the Ladies' auxiliary and the Parish guild in both of which organizations she was greatly esteemed. The deceased bore her long illness with true Christian fortitude and she has received most loving and devoted care from her husband and he will have the sympathy of all in this hour of deep sorrow. She was probably the oldest continuous resident of Morris and her demise is greatly regretted by a wide circle of friends. Surviving her are the husband, two sisters, Mrs. James G. Washbon of Harper, Kansas, and Mrs. A. G. Washbon of Binghamton; also two brothers. O. B. Matteson of Otego and L. B. Matteson of Winfield, Kansas; also several nephews and nieces" Otsego Farmer and Republican, 15 Jul 1927
