1905 Morris Baseball Team Central New York Champions

The card reads
Champions of Centrel New York 1905

Their status as Champions has no known basis in fact. Note that it was not printed on the card, but added sometime after printing. The word Centrel is not correctly spelled.

Information about the team shared by baseball researcher Anthony Kissel

I am a baseball researcher and came across the team photo recently. I read through the discussion on Facebook so thought I should get in touch.

I am about to compile the player stats for this Morris team that had a record of 30-12. There are at least seven of the players who hailed from Cortland County. They were recruited by player-captain Jack Davis of Cortland. They received some compensation and a pitcher and catcher probably received a monthly salary. Here are their names:

Lew Hewel, Manager
Jack Davis, Captain and Pitcher from Cortland
Al Butler, Catcher from Homer
Larry McCallen, Left Field from Homer
Michael McCallen, Shortstop from Homer
Ralph Cox, First Base from Homer
? Callahan, Center Field from Cortland
Joe Reardon, Right Field from Cortland
? Collister, Second Base from Oneida
Earl Southern, Substitute from Morris (or Billy?)
? Murphy, Third Base from Oswego.

I don't know who's who yet but I'll keep trying.
