1910 Morris Fair
Janice Klindt Alger wrote on Facebook: "I came across this photo and thought this week of the Otsego County Fair was a good time to share. It was the "Lull-Thurston-Knapp" float for the fair in 1910. Owner and Driver of the oxen team is Charles Brooks, men on the wagon hetcheling flax are George A. Yates operating the hetchel and J. Ernst Thurston (my great uncle and my Grandma Vera Thurston Klindt 's brother). The woman sitting is Martha Nearing (Mrs Orrin Nearing) and the child is Frances Nearing, a granddaughter. The woman in the cabin is Mrs. Hubbard (great grandmother to Kenneth Cooke). Pretty neat float."
Janice Klindt Alger's Uncle Fran commented: "I worked for Uncle Ernst on his farm the summer of 1945 when I was 12 years old. I drove his Ford tractor and also drove his 1938 Packard to pull the big hay fork to put hay in the hay loft of his barn. He certainly was a trusting soul when it came to me and driving."
Ken Bain commented: "I grew up in New Lisbon on the old Ernst Thurston farm."
