Lewis Rutherford Morris Central School, Morris as seen from West St., circa 1955
Here's an unused postcard with a view of MCS from West St., most likely from the 1950s. This spelling of Rutherford is unusual. Most other sources list the name as Rutherfurd.
A lot of alterations and additions have taken place since this photo was taken. Some questions come to mind.
Where did students eat lunch?
Was there a cafeteria with lunch service or did everyone bring lunch and eat at their desk?
Notice the fancy bike rack with a cover to keep the bikes dry during rain.
You know that the kids are tough when there is barbed wire keeping them off the road!
