Morris Manor Annex

Steve Hughes: Yes, the building in the foreground was used as a guesthouse. It was called the Annex. It is located on the Gilbertsville side of the Manor House. The building in the back is the stable. The second story of the stable had living quarters. Guy Rathbun lived there for many years. To the left of the stable you can see the greenhouse.

James Palmer: Good memory Steve. You are absolutely correct. I used to clean the high windows on the front of the Annex. I think you may have helped.

Steve Hughes: James Palmer , It was probably Jody that helped you. I started on the farm crew and went to the greenhouse crew my second year. Though the hours were long at the Manor it was a valuable experience, wish it was still operating the way it was back in the day. Hope all is well. Will tell Jody I heard from you. There is a great book titled "Empty Mansions" which details how the vast wealth actually came from Mrs. Morris dad, W.A. Clark. A great read.
