Joseph Naghski, Class of 1931

Joseph Naghski, Class of 1931 from MCS yearbook, graduating at age 15 and going on to Cornell with a 4-H scholarship.

Joseph Naghski won two awards as reported the Richfield Springs, NY Mercury on Dec 1, 1932

In 1936 Joseph Naghski completed his B.S. at Cornell University.

Joseph went on to Pennsylvania State University and earned a doctorate. If you do a google search on his name you will see a long list of books and research papers that he wrote or co-authored. He married a woman he met at Penn State and together they had 5 children, 4 of which survived into adulthood.

Elizabeth Naghski

June 12th, 1916 - May 4th, 2010 Elizabeth Naghski, nee Gatchell, died peacefully on May 4, 2010 at the age of 93.

She is predeceased by her husband, Dr. Joseph Naghski, who died in 2003.

Betsy was born in Baltimore, Maryland and was raised on Hill Acres Farm in Peach Bottom, Pennsylvania. She attended George School and received her bachelor's degree from Earlham College.

She earned a Master's degree in Bacteriology at Pennsylvania State University where she met Joseph. They lived and raised their family in Wyndmoor, Pennsylvania. Betsy was a community activist, served as a Girl Scout leader, tutored children, and was a member of the League of Women Voters and other progressive organizations. She was a Quaker and a member of Chestnut Hill Meeting. Betsy died in Huntington Woods, Michigan where she resided with her daughter Rebecca and son-in-law Sidney. She is also survived by her daughter Mary Ann and sons Michael (Karen), David (Leigh Ann), and John (Karen). She is survived as well by 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
