Glass Plate Negatives - set 1

Some time over 30 years ago I bought a box of 4 x 5 inch glass plate negatives at the Morris Auction Gallery on a Friday night. I don't know where they came from.

Recently I bought a scanner that can illuminate negatives.

Here's the first glass plate that I scanned. I will be getting more software to remove some of the speckles where the image has deteriorated.

I think that the young man in the image is the photographer and was pulling a string to trip the shutter on the camera. The image seems very peaceful and well composed. The people seem to have time. Lots of time.

If anyone recognizes any of the three people or the scene I would appreciate hearing about it. I think that they are in a stream and not a pond due to the amount of stones on the far bank.

So just who is this "joker?" Lounging on his bed with his comfortable shoes that have been half-soled and had the heels replaced. Must be a bit chilly in the room to be wearing those heavy pants and vest.

Photographer with his mother(?) and grandparents(?), grandpa has the black cat on his lap.
