This makes me think of Rt 51 above Elm Grove, but again you would have to compare buildings and distant hilltop?

Rhonda Wing
It reminds me of the Morris-Gilbertsville road.

Seneca Jacobsen
I agree!

Rene M Elliott
We need some comparison photos

Frank Rock
Top of "school house hill" on the bend just before the old "Isle" farm (Brooks now) .That would be my guess because of all of the guardrails.

Leona Shelley
Thought the same or ... north of the Manor farms.

Susan Davis-Shisler
and my thought exactly when I saw the picture.... Isle corner

Peter Jacobsen
My first thought was what Frank says, sure is pretty!

Rene M Elliott
The gable end of a house roof is what made me think that, just barely visible down over the bank, but again, I think we need to compare the farside of the valley to be sure.

Norma Boyd
I've adopted Morris as I'm a newcomer having come here about 60 years ago. I really enjoy Rennies imput regarding "our" history. Thanks all who contribute.

Frank Rock
Also, as a child, I remember those elm trees. or ,I should say big elm trees on the bank on that stretch of road. They were there the entire time I rode school bus past the Isle farm. And as I recall there were just two.

Cindy Boggs Talotta
Rene M Elliott, thank you for all the facts. I really enjoy learning more about our history.

Jim Matthers
51 just past Dugan's.

Cheryl Card Yatsonsky
Yes thank you I love all the pictures and facts

This photo seems to show nearly the same view as postcard 30. above -- The notches in ridge on the right line up quite well and the house is over the bank at nearly the same place. Photo was taken today Jan. 2, 2016.

Rene M Elliott Thanks!

Bob Thomas
Here's another shot from another location a few yards away.

Richard Sperry
I think we changed the view from great to ugly, I liked the old days........

Joe OConnor
Is there a date on the older photo?

Rene M Elliott
I would hazard a guess it could be the same vintage as the Main St. photo (1952), the steel reinforced concrete posts and cables were in use by WW2.

Jim Matthers The elms were there during the late 60-early seventies as I recall.

Bob Thomas Yes -- that roof peak is the house on the Isle farm.

Bob Thomas I remember the stub of the elm left there. Whoever cut it left a nice flat top that hawks used to use as a perch to tear away at whatever prey they could find. Perhaps Richard Sperry would like to see the 2016 photo in grayscale? Here's a converted image.

Janet Whitbeck
Is this 51 going to Gilbertsville ?

Rene M Elliott
North beyond Bemis Rd towards New Lisbon. The other I think is going down the valley but has to be compared yet.

Brian K. Shelley
Brian K. Shelley Just north of where McNamees and Mitchells lived, right?

Brian K. Shelley
Brian K. Shelley Mitchells would have been just off the left edge of the picture, if I recall correctly.

Leona Shelley
Leona Shelley Notice no light or telephone poles in old pic - might help with date. They usually followed along highways.

Bob Thomas There's a utility pole in the old picture just to the left of the house. You have to go "full screen" to get a good look at it. There is a tree right behind it so it doesn't show too well. You can also see wires under the trees on the right.
